OLLY WOOD IS CURRENTLY ROCKIN’ AT MCCANN LONDON AS A CREATIVE DIRECTOR, ALONGSIDE MATT SEARLE.


He began his career as a designer and fell in love with big powerful ideas that influence culture.

In 2011, he won a scholarship to The School of Communication Arts (SCA) in London to study advertising with an entry that made the world news as well as his grandma’s favourite newspaper. Not only did he finish the course winning the most prestigious student award - the D&AD Black pencil, but he also won the very first D&AD White pencil. This got him snapped up by Trevor Beattie and Bil Bungay at BMB, where he worked across their roster of clients, creating high profile work as well as winning a number of new accounts.

After a stint at BMB, he moved to McCann London where he continued to win new business, as well as create work in all shapes and sizes that continued to make a noise in the real world. His work has been recognised by major award shows including Cannes Lions, D&AD, The Clios and The Webby Awards and has been talked about by many major international news outlets including printed front-page news on Christmas Day.

More importantly his work has raised considerable amounts of money for medical aid in war torn countries, has helped launch a music career for an unheard artist, has created new technology integrating interactive video with telephony functionality and has transferred Brazilian legend and World Cup winner Roberto Carlos to a Sunday League pub team in Shrewsbury. Olly believes that good work should impact culture, create conversation and always looks to innovate the way that we tell stories to our audiences.

He has continued to support his old advertising school (SCA) by regular mentoring, giving talks and was invited to speak at the WPP School of Marketing in Shanghai with his old Dean Marc Lewis. He was included in the judging panel at D&AD’s New Blood Awards and enjoys nurturing junior talent.
